Peter Owen

Peter is Director of Toptenn Tennis Academy and a Tennis Australia Master Club Professional Coach.

Head Professional Peter Owen’s tennis career began with successful junior performances at State and National level, including selection in Victoria’s Linton Cup Squad. Peter represented universities in both Tennessee and Texas in NCAA Division 1 and NAIA respectively, and later played the U.S. and European Professional Tennis Circuit.

Peter has been active in tennis coaching for the past 25 years, including positions in many clubs throughout Victoria. His international experience includes coaching at various John Newcombe Tennis Centres throughout the U.S., and also the prestigious Century Country Club in New York. In 2011 Peter was named the TCAV and Tennis Victoria Club Coach of the Year.

Peter has served as President of Tennis Coaches Australia Victoria for a number of  years and has seen it through a very challenging period with the restructuring of Tennis Australia. Peter has also been appointed to the Tennis Australia National Coach Advisory Group.

He is also a Director of Kanga Tennis Tours International and Camp X Multi-Sport Camps, and continues to attend many international conferences to ensure his students receive the latest training methods.

Peter won a bronze and gold medal in the 2002 World Masters Games in singles and doubles respectively and was awarded Tennis Victoria Veterans Tennis Series “Player of the Year” for 2004.

Peter established Toptenn to provide professional tennis coaching and an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the lifetime game of tennis.

Peter is one of 20 coaches Australia wide qualified as a Tennis Australia Master Club Professional incorporating a diploma of management.

Hamish Clark

Hamish is Executive Manager of Toptenn Tennis Academy and Assistant Director of Toptenn Tennis Promotions Pty Ltd

Hamish, along with Natalie, works behind the scenes in the Welcome Centre at the Burwood Tennis Club to make sure your Toptenn experience is as enjoyable and as smooth as possible.

‘Mish Mash’ is also a member of Toptenn’s Head Coaching Team as a Junior Development Coach which he put into practice to build the skills, confidence and self-esteem of young tennis players.

Hamish also has a degree in Health Promotion, which he graduated with distinction, and will be returning to university to complete his Masters in Public Health.

Tim Shackleton
Tim ShackletonDirector of Coaching (TA Club Professional)
Tim is Director of Hot Shots and Junior Development Coaching at Toptenn Tennis Academy.

Tim ‘Shack Attack’ Shackleton is Toptenn’s very own Super Man. Tim was a former Toptenn student for over 5 years and has been involved in competitive tennis since he was 10 years old.

Currently, Tim plays Grade 4 Pennant for the Burwood Tennis Club on Saturday afternoons.

Tim has senior coaching roles at Deepdene Tennis Club, Burwood Tennis Club, St. Thomas the Apostle Primary and Forest Hill College.

Shack Attack also applies his biomechanical knowledge to a wide range of private sessions – working with them to fine tune technique and tailor winning strategies.

Tim has had extensive mentoring from Toptenn Tennis Club Professional Coach Tristan Harper and Master Club Professional / Toptenn Director Peter Owen and in 2015 started his Tennis Australia Level 2 ‘Club Professional’ Coaching Course.

Thomas Owen

Thomas is a Head Coach at Toptenn Tennis Academy.

Former Captain of Camberwell Grammar Tennis Tom ‘The Bomb’ Owen has burst onto the Toptenn Tennis Coaching Scene in style. Tom, like Billy Owen, is the son of Toptenn Tennis Director Peter Owen and shares the same passion for tennis and developing young tennis players. Tom’s loud, fun and energetic personality instantly draws students in and his extensive knowledge of Tennis Hot Shots and team tennis make him an incredible addition to Toptenn’s junior development team. Tom is currently studying Health Science at Deakin University to further his knowledge of tennis and sport science and in 2015 completed Tennis Australia’s Level 1 Junior Development Coaching Course.

Ed Nunn
Ed NunnHead Coach (TA Junior Development Coach)

Ed is the Director of Coaching at Deepdene Tennis Club and Team Trainings.

Steady Eddie Nunn represented Scotch in the schools First VIII Tennis Team for an Amazing 4 years spaning from 2003-2007. During this incredibly successful era at Scotch College the Tennis team came agonisingly close with consecutive Third and Second place finishes.

Only Eds leadership, capitilised by his warmth and genuine people skills, could hold his team together and in 2007 he was named First VIII Captain, an enormous achievement! The team bounced back the same year.

You may have also seen Ed involved in the Country Tennis Circuit as an incredibly successful coach and player.

In 2014 Ed won back to back Club Championships for the Old Boys Tennis Club at Scotch College and in 2015 Ed completed his Junior Development Level 1 Coaching Course with Tennis Australia.

Billy Owen
Billy OwenPromotions Manager

Billy has grown up in a tennis family playing tennis from age 3. He is a former top 10 state player, Captain of Tennis and AGSV representative for Camberwell Grammar, and still competes at a high level in Tennis Victoria pennant. Billy trained at the IMG Bollitieri Tennis Academy in Florida and recently returned from the USTA World Tennis Conference in New Orleans where he picked up some great ideas to introduce to EPTC.

Billy completed a Bachelor of Science at Melbourne University majoring in anatomy and human function. He is a qualified personal trainer, fitness enthusiast, and was a regular award winning member of the Goodlife gymnasium sales team before coming to EPTC.

Natalie Bacon

Natalie is a Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach.

Natalie is a Tennis Australia Club Professional. She coordinates and coaches brilliantly in our fun-filled Tennis Australia Hot Shot programs and does a fantastic job in ensuring that all the kids have a great time.

‘Nat Attack’ is also the Junior Teams Coordinator for the Burwood Tennis Club and puts hours of behind the scenes work into organising, supporting, encouraging and developing these teams.

Chloe Reese

Chloe is an Assistant Coach at Toptenn Tennis Academy.

Chloe comes from Ballarat’s most famous tennis coaching family, who run and manage a 12 court indoor facility in the busy country town. Chloe has never had a washout in her entire coaching career, and has been having a ball with ANZ Hot Shots coaching since she was just 15 years old. Chloe eats, sleeps and breathes tennis and specialises in Hot Shots, Teen Xtreme and Ladies Coaching. Chloe fits perfectly into our ‘fun and friendly’ tennis culture, and you will be seeing her happy face at just about all of Toptenn’s teaching venues. Welcome aboard, Chloe! Introducing Alex Minicozzi, the Adelaide Ace! Alex’s love for the game of tennis is enormous, and if you are lucky enough to be in one of his lessons, it is something you pick up on straight away.

Tennis has taken Alex around the world (as a player and coach) and has introduced him to some of the most incredible people, places, cultures and experiences. It is the true world game, a lifelong game and a game for everyone. Alex’s passion is to help players (large and small) play, learn, develop and grow their skills and love of the sport, so that they too can share in the spoils that tennis has given to him.

Alex has worked High Performance Tennis Academy (Adelaide), Next Gen / Peter Smith Tennis Academy (Adelaide), Palm Beach Yachts International (Florida), Northwood University Tennis Program (Detroit), Seymour College (Adelaide), Pultney Grammar (Adelaide) and St Peters College (Adelaide). This list goes on!

Alex has also received coaching from some of the very best in the business, picking up some handy tricks of the trade. This includes Peter Smith, who is the former coach of Australian tennis icons Lleyton Hewitt and John Fitzgerald.

Sean is a Senior Coach at the Toptenn Tennis Academy

Sean ‘The Sheep’ has become a Toptenn Tennis cult hero! As his nickname suggests, Sean’s popularity with our ANZ Hot Shots players has spread like wildfire and it wasn’t long before he was setting off to all Toptenn Tennis venues to keep up with the demand. His fan club doesn’t stop there, however, and Sean has been just as much of a hit in Teen Xtreme, private and adult coaching. Before arriving at Toptenn Tennis Sean was coaching at the Kew Tennis Club and working as an International Equities Officer at a stockbroking firm… Sean has many talents! Eager to spend more time on the court and less time in the office Sean soon kicked off his Toptenn Career. Second only to Sean’s love of tennis is his passion for Music. Sean is a keen music journalist, enthusiast, critic and coordinator and organises a number of events to help new Australian artists step into the very busy industry. As him about his website/blog at your next lesson, he will also give you a great new band to listen to.

Lewis Freeman

To improve communication with our large family of Chinese Mandarin speaking players Toptenn went looking for an experienced Mandarin speaking coach – Introducing Lewis Freeman.

Lewis is highly experienced with juniors and seniors and stemming from senior coaching roles at North Box Hill Tennis Club, Ringwood Tennis Club and the International School of Beijing (China).

Lewis has a phenomenal knowledge of the game technically and tactically and is a strong competitor himself – competing for Box Hill Tennis Club in Grade 5 Pennant

Lewis is largely based at Deepdene and Aqualink Box Hill.

Zac Nixon

Meet Zac Attack – Toptenn’s newest recruit. Zac is energetic, friendly and fun-loving and joins us as a specialists in teaching ANZ Tennis Hot Shots and Team Extremes. Zac has played tennis all his life at Tally Ho Tennis Club (both in lessons and club competition) and wants to give grassroots and club level players the same opportunities he had growing up on the tennis court.

Zac’s genuine love for the sport is infectious, and he has already been a huge HIT with his new students.

You will find Zac most based at Burwood Tennis Club, which is right next to his Uni (Deakin) where he is currently studying Property and Real Estate.

Be sure to say hi to Zac when you see him, and ask which of his 7 Tally Ho premierships was his favourite.

Michael McKayAssistant Coach

Michael is an Assistant Coach at Toptenn Tennis Academy.

Michael is an all-round sports fanatic, specialising in tennis. He is also a former Xavier College Firsts tennis representative, who Vice Captained the team in 2015. Michael has experience with highly regarded tennis coach Gerry Mustey and plays Grade 3 pennant at Kooyong. Michael will be working with our ANZ Hot Shots at Hartwell, Canterbury and Ashburton Primary as well as the Camberwell Grammar teams at Koonung. Michael is an awesome addition to our team with great coaching flexibility.
